Ewha Holds Dedication Ceremony for Ewha-Ottogi Childcare Center

Ewha Womans University held the dedication ceremony for Ewha-Ottogi Childcare Center at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 26. Built with the sponsorship of Ottogi Co, Ltd., the childcare center is a workplace nursery with five ground levels and one basement, covering a total floor area of 1,995㎡.
Expressing her gratitude to Ottogi for supporting the founding of the on-site daycare center, President Kim Heisook said, “As a women’s university, it is an important and essential task to create a culture of work-family balance and improve the environment to this end. I hope that Ewha-Ottogi Childcare Center will contribute to remarkably improving childcare conditions for members of Ewha Womans University, including faculty, graduate students, and researchers.”
In consideration of the safety and health of young children as its top priority, the childcare center is furnished with flame- and dust-proof facilities and built with eco-friendly materials. Its facilities include a children’s playroom and a library, in addition to nursery rooms, so that young children can enjoy a pleasant and comfortable time in a group setting.
Ewha has been leading young children’s education with its Ewha Kindergarten, which was Korea’s first kindergarten, and the Ewha Institute of Early Childhood Education & Care, a top-quality early childhood education and research center. Going forward, the school plans to improve the welfare of Ewha members by concentrating its childcare and education capabilities on Ewha-Ottogi Childcare Center, and take the lead in building a model to expand workplace childcare facilities and establishing a leading workplace nursery system.
