Physically-based animation (a.k.a. physics engine) plays a crucial role in generating believable yet efficient motions in computer games, movie VFX, VR/AR/XR, and robotics, and has been extensively studied past three decades. The underlying core of physically-based animation lies in classical mechanics, mechanical engineering and numerical analysis. The aim of this short lecture is to cover these basis rather in a rapid and intuitive manner and teach students practical knowledge of modern rigid-body dynamics techniques.
