Jung, JiYoung is a professor of Women’s studies, in college of social science. She currently serves as the Director of the Asian Center for Women's Studies. She is Editor of the Asian Journal of Women's Studies (AJWS) of the Asian Center for Women’s Studies. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of History at Sogang University (Korea, 2001), and was a Visiting Scholar at the Asian Institute of the University of Toronto (Canada, 2013-2014). As a scholar of gender history of Korea, she conducts research on women on the margins of the late Chosŏn period and reads the instability of the patriarchal order. Her interests also extend into Post-colonial studies, memory studies. She has authored books published in Korea, including the "The Construction of order and its Fissures: The Household register and women of in the late Chosŏn Korea". She has co-edited books published in Japan and Korea, "Site of Memory in East Asia" and co-authored books "Japanese invasion of Korea: The war of three East Asia states", as well as co-authored books published in the US including "Korean Buddhist nuns and laywomen: Hidden Histories, Enduring Vitality," and "Women and Confucianism in Chosŏn Korea: New perspectives." Furthermore, she has published various journal articles, including "Widow's position and agency in the late Chosŏn dynasty" (The Journal of Korean Studies).
