Ewha Womans University held “2017 Ewha Ecrire” at the ECC Theater from 2 p.m to 5:30 p.m, Monday, January 6, to foster its students' reading and writing skills and cultivate their critical and reflective thinking on society and themselves. “Écrire” means writing in French.
First held in 2016, Ecrire replaces annual Ewha Reading Competition which first started in 2012 by including travel essay category, and is now hosted by HOKMA Liberal College (Dean Prof. Kim Jeong-seon), an exclusive organization of liberal education. Participants should handwrite a book review or a travel essay on given or free topics for three hours without the help of any portable electronic devices, such as a mobile phone or a laptop.
This year, about 100 undergraduates attended the competition either in the book review category or the travel essay category. The winner of this year’s award who will receive small prize is going to be announced on January 24th (Tuesday), and the awards ceremony will be held on January 25th (Wednesday).
