GSIS Holds 2016 Ewha-KOICA Korean Speaking Contest

The Graduate School of International Studies (Dean Prof. Eun Mee Kim) held the “2016 Ewha-KOICA Korean Speaking Contest” on November 25th (Fri.) at 6:30 p.m. at the SK Telecom Building Convention Hall.

Run together by Ewha Graduate School of International Studies and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the Ewha-KOICA Master’s Program commemorates its tenth anniversary this year. It is a regular degree program that selects women civil servants from developing countries and fosters global female leaders who contribute to the development of their own countries and international cooperation. Twenty Ewha-KOICA students have regularly participated in Korean language classes for the last 16 months while studying in the GSIS International Development Master’s Program designed to strengthen the capacity of female leaders.

This Korean Speaking Contest proceeded in the order of Ewha-KOICA students’ Korean presentations, Korean role-play, and congratulatory performances. The participants promoted friendship and shared their thoughts as international students at Ewha by giving presentations they had prepared wholeheartedly under such themes as what they newly learned while living in Korea and how they interpret Korean culture.
